Former SSU Employee's Duties Extended in Customs Case
The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court extended the term of office of former Security Service of Ukraine employee Oleksandr Gromyk until February 25.
As is known, the anti-corruption court reduced Gromyk's bail to UAH 5 million, which was paid for him. He was released from custody and was given the following obligations: to appear upon every request; not to leave the territory of the Vyshnivska and Lyubomylska AHs of the Kovel district of the Volyn region without permission; to report a change of residence; to refrain from communicating with a number of persons; to hand over foreign passports and to wear an electronic bracelet.
The SAPO prosecutor requested that his duties be extended.
The motion is granted. To extend for the term of the resolution the term of the obligations imposed on the suspect (Gromyk - ed.) in connection with the application of a preventive measure in the form of bail to him. The term of the resolution is two months, until February 25, 2025 inclusive, but within the term of the pre-trial investigation
Oleksandr Gromyk is a figure in the EBK database.
As a reminder, NABU and SAPO exposed a criminal organization that was engaged in abuses at the Volyn customs. Its members ensured the illegal minimization of customs payments through the so-called "black" and "gray" import schemes, causing the state over UAH 475 million in losses.
As the investigation established, during the period of the crime, its participants, led by a former SBU employee, in collusion with officials of the Volyn customs, illegally transported highly liquid goods through the international checkpoint "Yahodyn".
The scheme consisted of disguising imported valuable goods with so-called "cover goods" of significantly lower value. In particular, Volyn customs officials ensured customs clearance of goods without proper customs formalities, prepared forged acts of customs inspections, entered false information into the automated customs clearance system "Inspector" and deliberately failed to take action to stop the criminal scheme.
It was previously reported that the Supreme Court of Ukraine extended the arrest of a person involved in the case of the mayor of Mukachevo.
We also wrote that the Supreme Court of Justice scheduled a hearing in the case of the deputy chairman of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Council.
