In Khmelnytskyi Oblast, the head of the Mariupol MSEC was caught extorting and receiving a bribe for assigning a disability group to a man. The official faces up to ten years in prison for the crime.

According to the investigation, the 43-year-old suspect is the head of the regional medical and sanitary expert commission No. 2 of the city of Mariupol, which is temporarily stationed in Khmelnytskyi and makes decisions on establishing disability groups for displaced persons from the Donetsk region and other temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

The suspect demanded $5,000 from the man for a positive resolution of the issue of establishing the III group of disability. The woman was detained while receiving the entire amount

– the prosecutor's office notes.

During searches at the doctor's residence, law enforcement officers seized over $20,000 in cash. The issue of appointing the official a preventive measure and removing her from office is currently being resolved.

The head of the MSEC was charged with extortion and receiving illegal benefits (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for five to ten years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the police, exposed an intermediary who, for bribes, influenced officials of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Bureau of Medical and Social Expertise . The detainee and the heads of the MSEC units were searched, during which 30 thousand dollars and documents for real estate that the officials did not include in the declaration were seized.

In addition, we reported that the SBI, together with the police and the prosecutor's office, exposed a criminal group that included MSEC officials . Participants in a large-scale scheme made money from evaders and issued them fictitious certificates of disability.
