Military Unit Commander Hid $90K House in Lviv

The commander of a military unit in the Lviv region was caught hiding a house in Bilogorshcha, registered to his mother-in-law. As part of the proceedings, the Lychakiv District Court seized the house and land, as well as the cars used by the official. Investigators informed him of suspicion of false declarations, and the court set a bail of UAH 60.6 thousand. From the case materials it is known that since 2024 he has been transferred to another position.
As the media learned from the case materials, the colonel, who in 2023 was the commander of one of the military units in the Lviv region. At the same time, he bought and registered 0.025 hectares of land in Belogorshcha for his mother-in-law, on which he built a residential building of 139 m2 in 2023-2024. According to a preliminary estimate, the average market value of such a house is 80-90 thousand dollars (approximately 3.5-4 million UAH at the current NBU exchange rate).
However, the official did not declare this property, although he actually lived in this house. Because of this, investigators opened criminal proceedings and in early September 2025 conducted searches and seized a number of properties, including the house itself, the plot and the 2010 Mercedes-Benz GL 350 car used by the former unit commander. On September 16, the Lychakiv District Court arrested the seized property.
In addition, judging by the case materials, on September 12, the military prosecutor's office informed the former commander of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 366-2 (false declaration) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the Lychakiv District Court chose a preventive measure for him - 60.5 thousand UAH bail.
