Kindergarten head to stand trial for fictitious employment scheme
Investigators have completed the pre-trial investigation and sent an indictment to the court against the director of one of the kindergartens of the Nizhyn community in the Chernihiv region, who is suspected of fictitious employment of employees.
This was reported by the Chernihiv regional police on their website.
During the pre-trial investigation, investigators established that the 58-year-old kindergarten director, abusing her official position, in March 2024 fictitiously employed employees at the institution who never appeared at the workplace until July 2025. At the same time, she prepared knowingly false official documents, which were the basis for accruing their salaries.
According to the Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, the suspect subsequently received money allegedly credited to employees. As a result, the director caused material damage to the Nizhyn community in the amount of over 255,000 hryvnias. During the pre-trial investigation, the woman voluntarily compensated for the damages in full.
The actions of the kindergarten director were qualified under Part 1 of Article 366 and Part 1 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely: preparation and issuance by an official of knowingly false official documents; abuse of official position, that is, intentional, with the aim of obtaining any unlawful benefit for oneself, use by an official of official position contrary to the interests of the service, which caused significant harm to public interests.
The sanction of the above articles provides for a penalty in the form of a fine of 250 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens, or restriction of liberty for a term of up to three years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.
