Officials to face trial over UAH 1.7 mln embezzlement
In Dnipropetrovsk region, an indictment was filed against the deputy head of one of the divisions of a regional branch of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" and three directors of contracting companies. They are accused of embezzling 1.7 million hryvnias from the state budget and official forgery.
This is stated on the website of the regional prosecutor's office.
As investigators found out, in 2021, the defendants took possession of funds allocated for the re-registration of documents for land plots used by Ukrzaliznytsia.
The controlled enterprises won state tenders and concluded contracts with the state-owned enterprise (Ukrzaliznytsia, — ed.). Later, their managers entered knowingly false information into the acts of performed work, in particular regarding work that was not actually performed. Despite being aware of the unreliability of the indicated data, the official signed the relevant documents
The defendants are charged with embezzlement and misappropriation of budget funds, as well as official forgery (Parts 4, 5 of Article 191, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The defendants may face up to seven years in prison.
