According to the case materials, the official and the lawyer demanded a bribe for allegedly speeding up the process of determining the place of residence of his minor child. They promised to influence officials in local government structures and a judge of the Lviv City District Court.

This was reported on the Facebook page of the SSU Office in Lviv region.

Thus, the defendants wanted to “make money” on a conscript who had legitimate grounds for receiving a deferment from mobilization, as a person who independently raises and supports a child.

— the message says.

The suspects estimated their “services” at $6,700. Law enforcement officers conducted investigative actions at their places of residence and work, during which they discovered and seized money, which, according to the SSU, confirms the suspects’ criminal activities.

The official and the lawyer have already been informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obtaining an unlawful benefit for oneself for influencing decision-making by persons authorized to perform state and local self-government functions, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, combined with the extortion of such benefit).

An investigation is underway to identify and prosecute other individuals involved in the scheme.
