The State Bureau of Investigation has detained a deputy of the Lviv Regional Council and his accomplice, the deputy mayor of one of the territorial communities in the region, for trying to defraud a local private entrepreneur and fraudulently take UAH 1.2 million from him.

This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation. 

The photos published from the detention show that they were trying to flush the bribes they received down the toilet. 

It is reported that the scammers promised to help the entrepreneur win a tender for construction work in the region, but he refused.

After the entrepreneur won on his own, the attackers decided to pretend that they were the ones who helped and began to obsessively demand a share of the profits from the businessman.

The State Bureau of Investigation detained a deputy of the regional council and a deputy mayor of one of the AHs while they were receiving $25,000 and UAH 190,000. They were informed of suspicion of fraud against a previous group of persons in particularly large amounts (Part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of up to twelve years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

It was previously reported that the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court extended the term of office of Volodymyr Honchar, judge of the Kropyvnytskyi Court of Appeal, until February 18, 2025 .
