As a reminder, the SAPO referred the case of the judge of the Kropyvnytskyi Court of Appeal, Volodymyr Honchar, to the court. According to the prosecution, the judge, through an intermediary, requested to provide him with an unlawful benefit in the amount of $10,500 for changing the verdict of the court of first instance and imposing a suspended sentence on the person who caused a road accident resulting in the death of a person. In order to conceal his involvement in the crime, the judge instructed the intermediary to both receive the unlawful benefit and store it.
However, the panel of judges of the Kropyvnytskyi Court of Appeal left the verdict of the court of first instance unchanged and sentenced the perpetrator to imprisonment. Since the judge was unable to ensure the fulfillment of his promise, most of the ill-gotten gains were returned. During a search of the intermediary's residence, detectives found the remaining illegally obtained funds in the amount of $450.
