A village head in Mykolaiv Oblast will be tried on suspicion of official negligence. According to investigators, he signed certificates of work performed without checking their quality and completeness, resulting in over 630,000 hryvnias being unjustly transferred from the budget.

This was reported by the Main Directorate of the National Police of Mykolaiv Region. According to law enforcement officials, the 65-year-old village head will be tried under the article "Official negligence" - improper performance by an official of his duties due to dishonest attitude towards them, which led to serious consequences for public interests.

In 2023, the village council signed a contract with a state-owned enterprise to perform engineering, exploration and scientific design work in the field of natural resource use. The chairman did not check whether the work was completed in full and of proper quality, but signed acceptance certificates and unjustifiably transferred community money to the state-owned enterprise's account, the report says.

Some of the work was not actually carried out, and the prepared materials did not comply with state construction standards. Despite this, over 630 thousand hryvnias of budget funds were transferred to the company's account.

The official was informed of the suspicion in March 2026. The case has now been referred to court. The sanction of the article provides for up to five years in prison with a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to three years.

We previously reported that a director in the Kharkiv region will be tried for overpaying for coal.
