Director in Vinnytsia suspected of embezzling UAH 1.3 million

The director of a construction company, suspected of embezzling over 1.3 million hryvnias for road repairs in the Vinnytsia region, faces up to 12 years in prison.
This was reported on the website of the Vinnytsia regional police.
According to the investigation, in September 2021, the man entered false data into the acts, indicating construction work that his company did not perform. The director also described false data regarding the scope and cost of the work.
As the forensic construction and technical examination showed, more than UAH 1.3 million was unjustifiably deposited into the company's accounts, which were used by the defendant to conduct financial transactions that have signs of legalization of proceeds from crime.
The 53-year-old director of a construction company is suspected of three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely, misappropriation and embezzlement by abuse of official position (Part 5 of Article 191), official forgery (Part 1 of Article 366), and laundering of property obtained by criminal means (Part 1 of Article 209).
If proven guilty, the man faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property. The investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Zhmeryn District Police Department under the procedural guidance of the Zhmeryn District Prosecutor's Office, the regional police website reported.

In addition, law enforcement officers detained a group of officials and businessmen who embezzled budget funds allocated for road repairs in the Kharkiv region . The amount of damage caused reached almost 20 million hryvnias.
