Ex-official in Kyiv to face trial for overpaying UAH 200,000 image

A former official of Kyivzelenbud overpaid 200,000 hryvnias during the renovation of a park in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv. He faces eight years in prison.

Law enforcement officers found out that in 2023, Kyivzelenbud and a private enterprise entered into a contract to repair a park in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv between Mykola Bazhana Avenue and Sribnokilska Street around Lake Sribnyi Kyl.

Later, the former deputy head of the capital investment department of the municipal association, realizing that the cost of construction materials, in particular crushed stone and sand, was inflated compared to market prices, signed the certificates of completed work.

Experts concluded that the official's actions caused losses of 200,000 hryvnias to the capital's community. Therefore, the Darnytsia District Prosecutor's Office sent an indictment to the court against the former official for embezzlement of budget funds during martial law.

The suspect now faces eight years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years.

It was previously reported that law enforcement officers detained a group of officials and businessmen who embezzled budget funds allocated for road repairs in the Kharkiv region . The amount of damage caused reached almost 20 million hryvnias, the press service of the National Police of Ukraine reported.

Also in the Dnipropetrovsk region, the State Bureau of Investigation detained a deputy commander of a military unit who embezzled night vision devices worth almost UAH 4 million . A preventive measure has already been chosen for him.
