BTI official caught taking bribe in Vinnytsia region

The head of one of the district divisions of the BTI was detained in Vinnytsia Oblast, suspected of receiving illegal benefits. According to the investigation, he demanded money for the legalization of an illegally constructed building.
This was reported to the Vinnytsia regional police.
According to the investigation, in May 2026, the 42-year-old official agreed with a local entrepreneur to help legalize an outbuilding that had been built without the necessary permits. To do this, he had to produce a technical passport with inaccurate data.
The man estimated his services at between $1,500 and $2,000. The parties later agreed to transfer an advance payment of $1,000.
In early June, during a meeting to receive funds, the official was exposed by employees of the Department of Strategic Investigations.
The man was informed of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - receiving an unlawful benefit by an official for committing actions using his official position in the interests of the person providing such benefit.
The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to four years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years. Currently, law enforcement officers are continuing the pre-trial investigation. The issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is also being resolved.
