Ex-Supreme Court chief Kniaziev gets 5 years

The High Anti-Corruption Court approved a plea agreement between the prosecutor's office and former Supreme Court Chief Justice Vsevolod Knyazev, as a result of which he received 5 years in prison.
The accused fully admitted his guilt in the crime he was charged with, agreed to provide incriminating evidence against his accomplices and receive a real term with confiscation of property.
Knyazev was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "receiving an unlawful benefit by an official, if it is committed in relation to a benefit of a particularly large amount."
The SAPO stated that Knyazev was sentenced to 5 years of actual imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold positions in judicial and law enforcement bodies for a period of three years. He was also confiscating his apartment and house, over 200 thousand US dollars of personal savings, as well as 1,248,700 US dollars, which were the subject of illegal gain.
In addition, by agreement of the parties, the former Chairman of the Supreme Court will direct $1,104,600 to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine through the "Return Alive" Foundation.
