UAH 2.7 mln embezzled during AFU facility construction

The SSU's military counterintelligence, together with the Bureau of Economic Security, uncovered a scheme to embezzle budget funds during the execution of a defense order in the Zhytomyr region. According to the investigation, at least UAH 2.7 million was misappropriated during the construction of an Armed Forces command post on the territory of one of the military units.
Law enforcement officers detained the co-owner of a private company that was engaged in the construction of the facility. She also performed the functions of a technical supervision engineer and was supposed to control the quality and deadlines for the work. The investigation believes that the official signed the act of transferring the unfinished construction to the balance of the military unit, despite the violation of the deadlines for the work.
In addition, the investigation revealed that the contractors used poor-quality construction materials, making the structure unsuitable for defense purposes.
The engineering and technical examination confirmed the inadequate technical condition of the military facility. The detainee has now been informed of suspicion of official negligence. She faces up to five years in prison. Law enforcement officers are continuing their investigative actions to identify all people involved in the scheme.
As a reminder, it was previously reported that the head of one of the village military administrations will be tried in the Mykolaiv region, who is suspected of embezzling over 2.4 million hryvnias from the local budget.
