Mykolaiv official to stand trial over UAH 2.4 mln loss

In the Mykolaiv region, the head of one of the village military administrations will be tried, suspected of embezzling over 2.4 million hryvnias from the local budget.
This was reported by the Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
From its own sources in law enforcement agencies, the Public learned that the suspect is Maksym Korovai, head of the Pervomaiska settlement military administration.
According to the investigation, in 2024, an official, on behalf of the territorial community, concluded an agreement with an entrepreneur for the purchase of land management services. Subsequently, the man agreed to pay in full for the work without checking its completion.
As a result, the local budget suffered losses of over 2.4 million hryvnias, the report says. Law enforcement officers reported the official to suspicion of "embezzlement of property through abuse of official position, committed under martial law and on a particularly large scale."
The sanction of the article provides for 7 to 12 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for a period of up to three years and confiscation of property.
