Acting NAAS institute director to stand trial over financial losses
The acting director of the Institute of Agrarian Resources and Regional Development of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine will be tried in Zacarpathia. The official is suspected of official forgery and abuse of power, which caused the state to lose almost 680,000 hryvnias.
This was reported on the website of the Zacarpathian Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, during the execution of the contract with the farm for growing corn (on more than 83 hectares of land), work was included in the official documents that was not included in the agreement at all. These include services for "fertilizing crops" and "harvest processing."
In addition, as law enforcement officials note, the cost of harvesting was more than doubled — from 1,345 to 3,500 hryvnias per hectare.
Law enforcement officers added that the official knew about the documents' non-compliance with the terms of the contract, but signed them and certified them with the institution's seal. According to the expert's conclusions, it was these additional works and inflated prices that became the basis for increasing the cost of the contract and caused losses of almost 680 thousand hryvnias.
The woman is suspected of abuse of office and official forgery (Part 2 of Article 364, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
