Kharkiv city official suspected of kickback demand
In Kharkiv, a city council official who, according to investigators, demanded a "kickback" of 370,000 hryvnias from a contractor was reported under suspicion. She faces up to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

Investigators established that in 2025, a department of the Kharkiv City Council concluded contracts with a private company for current and capital repairs of three apartment buildings.
After the work was completed and almost 3.7 million hryvnias were transferred to the contractor, the deputy director of the department demanded that she be given a "kickback" of 10% - about 370 thousand hryvnias. She made it clear that without this, the company's further participation in concluding contracts would be completely blocked.
In the office, the official refused to receive the money, instead providing a sheet with a specific address and "codes" for transferring cash through a currency exchange point, after which she destroyed her record, leaving a copy only with the contractor.
According to the prosecutor's office, the contractor followed the instructions and transferred 300,000 hryvnias. He was supposed to transfer the rest of the money later.
The officials reported suspicion of extorting large amounts of illegal benefits and receiving large amounts of illegal benefits for committing acts using their official position. The sanction of the article provides for five to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
It was previously reported that the director of a contracting organization in the Zhmeryn community is accused of embezzling more than UAH 1.7 million from the budget for work that was not performed. The case has been referred to court.
In addition, in the Chernihiv region, the director of an enterprise will be tried, accused of embezzling budget funds during the overhaul of the roof of the fire station in Pryluky. He faces up to eight years in prison.
