Cherkasy official suspected over UAH 5.6 mln shelter losses
In Cherkasy region, an official is suspected of official negligence: according to the investigation, his actions caused the community losses of over five and a half million hryvnias during the construction of a shelter at an educational institution.
This was reported by Suspilne with reference to the press service of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Cherkasy region.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers established that the 46-year-old official, contrary to legal requirements, did not involve a specialized organization to develop project documentation for the construction of a shelter in one of the educational institutions of the region.
In addition, he did not conclude a construction contract, which made it impossible to properly control the construction process. As a result of such actions, the community suffered losses in the amount of 5 million 600 thousand hryvnias.
According to Iryna Golovna, a spokeswoman for the Cherkasy Oblast Prosecutor's Office, the suspect is the head of one of the departments of education, youth and sports of the Cherkasy Oblast, and the contract in question was concluded in 2023.
He was charged with official negligence (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Earlier, the prosecutor's office in the Kirovohrad region reported suspicions that the director of the regional department of capital construction had embezzled budget money during the renovation of a hospital.
In addition, the former head of the Southern Interregional Forestry and Hunting Department is suspected of extorting $25,000. According to the investigation, for this money he promised to help the hunting organization obtain the use of 13,000 hectares of land in the Odessa region.
