HACC Extended Arrest of Ex-Ukrzaliznytsia Official, Reduced Bail
The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court extended the detention of Roman Zheliznyak, the former head of the production structural unit "Cherkasy Track Repair and Mechanical Plant" of the branch "Center for Repair and Operation of Tracked Vehicles" of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" until February 10, 2025 inclusive.
His bail was reduced to UAH 6 million. This decision was made by the investigating judge of the Supreme Court of Criminal Appeals, Viktor Maslov.
As is known, the anti-corruption court extended Zheliznyak's arrest. An alternative was set at UAH 10 million in bail. The Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Court of Ukraine reduced the bail to UAH 8.47 million. The NABU detective again requested to extend the arrest and leave the bail at UAH 8.47 million.
The prosecutor's request to extend the term of detention is partially granted. To extend the term of preventive detention for the suspect Roman Ivanovych Zheliznyak until February 10, 2025 inclusive. To set an alternative preventive measure for the suspect in the form of bail in the amount of UAH 6,000,000
As a reminder, NABU and SAPO detained the former head of the Ukrzaliznytsia branch. According to the investigation, during 2021–2022, an organized group took possession of the funds of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia by abusing their official position by officials of the Cherkasy KRMZ branch of the Central Railways of Ukraine. Five members of the organized group were informed of the suspicion.
Earlier, the court arrested the former head of the Lviv region's economic court.
