Dnipro official exposed over UAH 3.3 mln embezzlement after attacks
In Dnipro, the director of a city council department was exposed as having, together with accomplices, embezzled over UAH 3 million of money allocated for the reconstruction of houses destroyed by Russian shelling.
The scheme was organized by a city council official, a director of a private enterprise, and two accountants from a conversion center. It was established that during 2023-2025, the defendants embezzled money allocated from the city budget for the restoration of houses after Russian shelling.
In particular, the Dnipro City Council concluded contracts with a controlled enterprise for the purchase of windows and doors, the cost of which was artificially inflated. At the same time, it was established that in reality the building materials were purchased directly from the manufacturer at a much lower cost. The participants in the scheme converted the difference into cash through controlled conversion centers, and then distributed it among themselves. Thus, the defendants appropriated 3.3 million UAH from the city budget.
Law enforcement officers have charged a city council official, an entrepreneur, and accountants with embezzlement and official forgery. The suspects face up to 12 years in prison. The court will soon choose preventive measures for them.
