Kyiv official to stand trial over UAH 2 mln road salt overpayment
In Kyiv, the investigation has been completed and the case materials regarding the head of the department of the "Road and Operational Department for the Repair and Maintenance of Highways and Structures on Them of Solomyansky District" have been sent to court. He is accused of overpaying two million hryvnias for the purchase of salt for road surfacing.
This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
The official, as a representative of the utility company, was supposed to monitor the prices of de-icing agents to determine their expected cost. However, the price monitoring was not carried out properly, as a result of which the road salt was purchased at a price higher than the market price.
According to investigators, the municipal enterprise overpaid more than 2 million hryvnias from the capital's budget for road salt.
The official is accused of official negligence. He faces up to 5 years in prison with a disqualification from holding certain positions for up to 3 years.
