Kyiv scheme offered draft deferment travel for $7,000

A scheme to obtain fictitious documents about caring for relatives, which allowed people to get a deferment from mobilization and travel abroad, was exposed in Kyiv. A couple of lawyers and an employee of the district state administration are suspected.
This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
According to the investigation, the organizer was a 57-year-old man who, together with his wife and an official, arranged for the execution of fictitious documents under the guise of legal services.
For $7,000, clients were helped to obtain certificates stating the alleged need to care for relatives — this provided grounds for deferring mobilization and traveling abroad.
In particular, one of the clients was found a woman for a fictitious marriage and given a psychiatric diagnosis. A month after the marriage, the man received documents stating that he needed constant care for his "wife," although her real condition was not checked.
The suspects were detained while receiving the last part of the money. Law enforcement officers seized draft notes with the names of other customers.
As part of the investigation, the suspects' luxury cars were seized. The organizer and the official of the Department of Social and Veteran Policy of the RDA were given a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail of over 6 million UAH, and his wife was placed under 24-hour house arrest. The sanction of the article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
We will remind, two TCP soldiers were detained in Zhytomyr region for taking bribes.
We also reported that the court increased the bail for former military officer Borisov.
