Two TCP servicemen detained in Zhytomyr region over bribes

In Zhytomyr region, law enforcement officers detained two servicemen of the TCP and SS, who are suspected of organizing a bribery scheme to remove the "wanted" status from those liable for military service. Two of the defendants in the case have already been notified of the suspicion. The Zhytomyr TCP and SP commented on this case.
The Zhytomyr Regional TCP and SS responded to the detention of two TCP and SS servicemen by publishing a post on its Facebook page.
In particular, the post confirmed that two servicemen of one of the district TCP and SS in Zhytomyr region were detained for taking a bribe. It also stated that the regional TCP and SS provides full support to law enforcement officers and helps to identify and investigate any abuses and manifestations of corruption.
Ivanna Siletska, press officer of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Zhytomyr region, told Suspilny that law enforcement officers in Zhytomyr region detained two servicemen of the TCP and SS, who are suspected of organizing a bribery scheme to remove the "wanted" status from those liable for military service. According to her, police officers detained two residents of the Korosten district while they were receiving part of a bribe - $1,500.
The ransom was intended to remove the "wanted" status in the electronic registry "Oberig" from the conscript. Both accomplices were informed of the suspicions, a pre-trial investigation is underway
According to her, during the investigation, it was established that the 35-year-old commander of the department and the 31-year-old serviceman were part of a group to notify and search for conscripts who evade reporting to the district TCP and SS.
Together with another TCP employee, they agreed on a "earnings" scheme: the task of the defendants was to negotiate the amount of the "redemption" and mediate in obtaining money for the accomplice.
The meeting to discuss the details took place in one of the villages. The cost of the "service" was $1,500 for each conscript. At the end of the month, they met again and transferred 60,000 hryvnias for the first "customer". On January 14, the men met again to transfer the second part of the bribe. Then, with the forceful support of special forces from the special police company, they detained both suspects
According to her, investigators from the Main Department of the National Police of Zhytomyr Region seized $1,500 in bribes. They also conducted searches in the office of the RTCP and the Joint Venture, at the places of residence and in the cars of the suspects. As a result, they seized vehicles, almost 100 thousand hryvnias, mobile phones and draft notes.
On January 15, both defendants were informed of suspicion of aiding and abetting in obtaining unlawful benefit for themselves and third parties for committing actions by an official in the interests of third parties using the power and official position granted to them. These are actions committed by a group of persons in a preliminary conspiracy - under Part 5 of Article 27 and Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the articles provides for imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years and confiscation of property
