Investigators have caught an official of the Lyubotyn City Council accepting a bribe. Law enforcement officials believe that the man asked for $3,700 for "help" in processing documents for a house and land.

This was reported on March 4 by the press services of the police and the prosecutor's office of the Kharkiv region.

Investigators established that a man approached the official for advice, saying he wanted to legalize his parents' house and land.

Initially, the man gave the official the first part of the amount of 2,700 USD. On February 28, the defendant received the second tranche of 1,000 USD and gave the man documents confirming the ownership of the house. Law enforcement officers detained the official “red-handed”

The police add that the suspect was remanded in custody for 60 days.

The sanction of the article provides for up to ten years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
