Contractor in Odesa stole UAH 1 million on hospital repairs

A contractor who forged documents on hospital renovations and illegally received budget funds has been detained in Odessa, the press service of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor's Office reports.
In Odessa, the director of a contracting company embezzled almost a million hryvnias during the renovation of a hospital for COVID-19 patients.
He overstated the cost and scope of construction work, including electrical repairs and fire alarm installation. After the work was completed, he entered inaccurate data into the certificates of work performed, which allowed him to illegally receive almost 1 million hryvnias.
The defendant was notified of suspicion of embezzlement of budget funds and official forgery (Part 5 of Article 191, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The contractor was placed under preventive detention with the possibility of bail. The technical supervision engineer was also suspected of official negligence (Part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
We previously reported that the Shevchenko District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv has sent charges to the court against the director of the State Enterprise "Production Association "Kyivprylad", his advisor and assistant. They are suspected of alleged bribery .
In addition, NABU and SAPO exposed the activities of a criminal organization, which included a number of officials of the Kyiv City Council. The officials were engaged in the illegal privatization of land for construction . In addition, they tried to take full control of the procedure for making decisions on granting land rights.
