Supreme Court to review Khmilkivskyi’s appeal against conviction
The Supreme Court will consider an appeal against the verdict that found Anatoly Khmilkivskyi, a deputy of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district council of the Odessa region, guilty. He was sentenced to 4 years in prison.
As is known, the High Anti-Corruption Court found the deputy of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district council guilty and sentenced him to 5 years in prison. The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court reclassified the crime and reduced the sentence to 4 years in prison. The deputy himself filed a cassation appeal.

As a reminder, NABU and SAPO reported suspicions to a deputy of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district council. According to the investigation, the suspect persuaded a local businessman to give 450 thousand dollars to deputies and the head of the settlement council of the Odessa district in order to receive land for rent with the right of privatization for development. The deputy of the district council was exposed immediately after he received the first part of the agreed funds, namely 10,000 dollars.
