HACC Appeals cuts sentence for Odesa region deputy

The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court reclassified the crime and reduced the sentence from 5 to 4 years of imprisonment imposed on Anatoly Khmilkovsky, a deputy of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district council of the Odessa region. He was taken into custody.
This was reported by the press service of the AC HACC, but did not mention the politician's name.
According to "Word and Deed", this is about Khmilkivskyi. As is known, the anti-corruption court found Khmilkivskyi, a deputy of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district council, guilty and sentenced him to 5 years in prison. His defense lawyer filed an appeal against this verdict.
Following the results of the consideration, the panel of judges of the AC of the HACC partially satisfied the appeal of the defense attorney and changed the verdict of the HACC in terms of the legal qualification of the actions of the accused, as well as the term of the imposed sentence. The actions of the deputy were reclassified to Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment. The remaining part of the sentence was left unchanged. In order to execute the sentence, the court decided to take the accused into custody

As a reminder, NABU and SAPO reported suspicions to a deputy of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district council. According to the investigation, the suspect persuaded a local businessman to give 450 thousand dollars to deputies and the head of the settlement council of the Odessa district in order to receive land for rent with the right of privatization for development. The deputy of the district council was exposed immediately after he received the first part of the agreed funds, namely 10,000 dollars.
