Supreme Court Overturns Acquittal in Okhmatdyt Case
The Supreme Court overturned the verdict that acquitted the former director of the state-owned enterprise "Ukrmedproektbud" Iryna Koval and the former director of LLC "Ukrprofmed" Ihor Kuchma of abuses during the construction of Okhmatdyt.
As is known, the Supreme Court of Justice sentenced the former director of the state enterprise "Ukrmedproektbud" Iryna Koval to 5 years in prison, and the former director of LLC "Ukrprofmed" Ihor Kuchma to 4 years.
They were both immediately detained in the courtroom and remanded in custody. On December 26, 2023, the Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice overturned this verdict and acquitted the defendants.
The prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the head of the SAPO, Oleksandr Klymenko, filed appeals against this decision. "The cassation appeals of the prosecutor, who participated in the consideration of the criminal proceedings by the courts of first and appellate instance, and the Deputy Prosecutor General - head of the SAPO (Klymenko - ed.) are partially satisfied.
The decision of the Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court of December 18, 2023 regarding (Koval and Kuchma - ed.) should be annulled and a new hearing should be scheduled in the court of appeal.
Iryna Koval is a figurehead of the EBK base.
Recall, according to the prosecution, Koval, in collusion with Kuchma, abused her position and made a 100% prepayment to Ukrprofmed LLC from Ukrmedproektbud SE for the supply of engineering and technical equipment during the construction of the Okhmatdyt NDSL. The specified items were never delivered, which caused material damage (losses) in the amount of more than 30 million UAH.
Earlier it became known that the court extended the duties of the former head of the State Fiscal Service Nasirov until February.
