HCJ dismisses Odesa Primorsky Court judge Lonskyi

The High Council of Justice (HCJ) has decided to dismiss Ilya Lonsky from the position of judge of the Primorsky District Court of Odessa. The reason for the dismissal was "committing a significant disciplinary offense."
Ilya Lonsky is accused of attempting to bribe another judge for a positive decision in an administrative case, as well as of misappropriating part of the bribe. According to the investigation, this is a bribe of two thousand dollars from a serviceman. The judge was informed of the suspicion in early August 2023.
The intermediary was a lawyer who was exposed in June of the same year. He and the lawyer were informed of suspicions under Part 3 of Article 15, Part 3 of Article 369 and Part 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and they face up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
The dismissal procedure began after the submission of the First Disciplinary Chamber of the Supreme Judicial Council. The members of the chamber decided to hold the judge accountable and apply the most severe penalty to him - a recommendation for dismissal.
The Rada supported this submission, relying on paragraph 3 of part six of Article 126 of the Constitution of Ukraine. Now the decision of the Supreme Court of Justice finally terminates Lonsky's authority in one of the courts of Odessa.
Ilya Lonsky is a figure in the EBK database.
In addition, we also reported that the former head of the Western Appeals Economic Court, Borys Plotnitsky, accused of bribery, entered into a plea agreement with the prosecutor of the SAPO, which was approved by the High Anti-Corruption Court.
