ECHR rejects ex-judge Vovk’s complaint over NABU investigation

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has rejected the complaint of former judge of the Ukrainian Arbitration Court Pavlo Vovk against Ukraine due to the alleged "ulterior motives" of the NABU in the investigation against him.
This is stated in the ECHR decision published on the court's website.
Pavlo Vovk complained about the alleged violation of his rights due to the publication by NABU of the materials of the criminal investigation against him in 2019-2020. He also complained that the criminal proceedings against him "are generally being carried out by NABU for ulterior motives."
The ECHR declared the complaint of former judge Vovk inadmissible. The court made two key conclusions in the case of Pavlo Vovk. First, Vovk did not use all the opportunities to effectively protect his rights in Ukraine. Second, there is no evidence that NABU had ulterior motives when carrying out his criminal prosecution.
The ECHR also found that NABU openly and publicly disclosed criminal case materials, having obtained permits to do so in accordance with the rules of criminal procedure.
Pavlo Vovk is a suspect in the EBK database.
Earlier it also became known that the former head of the DACK Vovk is appealing his dismissal in the Supreme Court.
