Since the beginning of the martial law legal regime, more than 1,200 attempts to bribe border guards have been recorded for an amount of more than UAH 15.5 million.

According to the State Border Service of Ukraine, this year alone, border guards stopped almost 400 attempts to provide illegal benefits for a total amount of over UAH 6.5 million (in 2023, this amount was UAH 3.8 million).

In total, since the beginning of the martial law legal regime, more than 1,200 bribery attempts have been recorded for the amount of over UAH 15.5 million.

The State Border Guard Service noted that there is a system of incentives for refusing unlawful benefits, and during the year 149 border guards were awarded awards and cash bonuses totaling almost 250 thousand UAH.

At the same time, it is reported that 18 servicemen of the State Border Service of Ukraine have been detained for violating anti-corruption legislation since the beginning of the year, 9 of whom are involved in the illegal smuggling of people across the state border. Among those detained for corruption are an officer and 17 sergeants and privates.

Today, 11 border guards were found guilty of corruption offenses. The courts imposed fines in the amount of over 760 thousand UAH, 2 servicemen were sentenced to imprisonment for terms of 2 years and 5 years (with a probationary period of 3 years), respectively.

Earlier it became known that a Lviv rescuer was fined for a bribe.
