The deputy prosecutor of the Zaporizhzhia region was arrested for bribery
The deputy prosecutor of the Zaporizhzhia region was found guilty of accepting a bribe. As the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) reported on September 23, the official demanded 40,000 dollars (over UAH 1.6 million) for help in changing the liability, canceling the seizure of property and avoiding criminal liability for the person against whom proceedings were held investigation.
The law enforcement officers detained the deputy prosecutor directly while receiving the bribe. Legal qualification of the actions of the deputy prosecutor - Part 4 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (receiving a bribe). The issue of selecting a preventive measure is being resolved. If her guilt is proven, she faces up to 12 years in prison, as well as deprivation of the right to hold public office.
The name of the detainee has not been officially disclosed, however, according to LIGA.net, it is Natalya Maksimenko, who has been working in this position since November 2020. According to the data of the Zaporizhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, the head of the department, Serhiy Spilnyk, has two male deputies and only one female, Natalya Maksimenko.
