Case story: In late January 2026, the Solomian District Prosecutor's Office reported suspicions to a 55-year-old People's Deputy of the 6th and 8th convocations, who was also a member of the Kyiv City Council. He is accused of unauthorized occupation of land plots and illegal construction within the coastal protective strip of the Dnipro River.
The investigation established that the suspect owns a land plot of 0.1 hectares in Voskresensky Sady (Dniprovskyi district of Kyiv). At the same time, according to the case materials, the defendant decided to increase the area of his possessions and illegally occupied adjacent land plots. These lands are municipally owned and are located within the coastal protection strip of the Dnipro River.
Without any permits, the suspect annexed 0.3 hectares of land to his plot and fenced it off, restricting other citizens' access to water. Later, without any permits, the former MP illegally built a one-story house there with an area of 103 sq. m.
The prosecutor's office noted that the illegally seized land plots are located within a 100-meter coastal protective strip of a large river, where any construction and installation of fences is prohibited by law.
The man has now been informed of the suspicion. His actions were classified under Part 2 of Article 197-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and Part 4 of Article 197-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. The issue of returning communal land plots to the territorial community of the capital is being resolved.
The press service of the prosecutor's office informed that this is about Oleksandr Suprunenko.
Persons potentially involved in corruption schemes: open sources do not provide information about the possible accomplices of the former People's Deputy.
Assets: Suprunenko last filed his income tax return in 2019. Then, in the declaration, he indicated that he owns two apartments in Kyiv, a land plot, a summer house, two garages, and an office. His wife Olena owns a residential building in the Kyiv region, two land plots, two offices, and a garage.
In addition, Suprunenko declared more than 10 paintings, two guns, and 6 luxury brand watches.

Suprunenko personally did not declare any cars, but his wife owned a Toyota Land Cruiser worth UAH 894,952.

The income of the former people's deputy was UAH 17,005,577.

Suprunenko declared $1,985,000 and €1,300,000 in cash; he also lent $2,840,000 to third parties.

Persons who should have reacted: law enforcement agencies should have paid attention to criminal activity even earlier - in particular, NABU, SAPO, and SBI should have reacted.
Scandals: in 2021, journalists from "Nashi Groshe" found out that the Kyiv City Council was going to give Suprunenko's entourage half a hectare of land in the capital's Holosiiv because their unauthorized construction was located there.
Investigators called this an illegal land appropriation scheme, where instead of demolishing illegal structures, Suprunenko's entourage was given land for the construction of a residential complex.
