SAP sends $270M pesticide embezzlement case to court

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office referred to court the case of the former Deputy Director of the Scientific Information and Analytical Center "Trading House of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine" within the structure of the NAAS, Oleksandr Yevdokimov, for the misappropriation of plant protection products worth over UAH 270 million.

The press service of the SAPO reports this, but does not mention the name of the accused.

According to media reports, this is specifically about Yevdokimov, who is wanted.

The SAPO prosecutor, based on the materials of the NABU pre-trial investigation, sent to the court an indictment against the head of a state enterprise, who was caught misappropriating plant protection products worth over UAH 270 million. The actions of the head of the state enterprise were qualified as a crime under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Given that the suspect was on the international wanted list, a special pre-trial investigation was carried out against him. It should be noted that within the framework of the investigation, NABU and SAPO seized and arrested the remains of unsold plant protection products worth UAH 46.2 million and ensured their transfer to ARMA

Recall, Yevdokimov is suspected of misappropriating pesticides worth UAH 276 million. The investigation established that by order of the Fastiv District Military Administration of the Kyiv Region dated April 4, 2022, property was forcibly seized from LLC "August-Ukraine". It concerned plant protection products, which were subsequently subject to free transfer to the NIAC "TD NAANU" in order to support agricultural producers, ensure the sowing campaign in Ukraine, as well as the food needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and military units.

The scientific center received plant protection products for a total amount of UAH 276.66 million. Evdokimov, as the director of the enterprise, did not record the received pesticides on the balance sheet of the NIAC "TD NAANU". The specified pesticides were transported for storage to the warehouse. As the detective noted, scientific institutions and state enterprises - research farms under the jurisdiction of the NAAS of Ukraine, did not receive plant protection products from the Fastiv RVA.

It was previously reported that the SAPO referred the case of the former deputy of the Dnipropetrovsk RMA to court.
