SAP seeks to confiscate property of Odessa Customs couple

The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office is requesting the confiscation of unfounded assets worth over UAH 8.5 million belonging to the head of the department and his wife, the chief state inspector of the Odessa Customs, as well as their son, the deputy head of the district council in the Kyiv region. The SAPO press service reports this.
According to media reports from their own sources, this concerns Serhiy Hrynchyshyn, the head of the customs clearance department No. 2 of the Odesa-Port customs post, who previously headed the Odessa Customs Service, his wife Halyna, and their son Serhiy, who holds the position of deputy chairman of the Obukhiv district council of the Kyiv region.
On March 6, 2025, the SAPO prosecutor filed two lawsuits with the High Anti-Corruption Court to declare assets worth over UAH 8.5 million unfounded and recover the specified amounts of funds to the state revenue (civil confiscation) from the head of the department and the chief state inspector of the Odessa Customs, as well as their son, the deputy chairman of the district council in the Kyiv region.
According to the prosecutor, in 2021, the Hrynchyshins acquired an apartment in the city of Odessa with an area of 103.8 sq. m, and their son acquired an apartment in the capital with an area of 105.5 sq. m and a 2018 TOYOTA RAV-4 HYBRID car. All these assets were registered to their close relative, born in 1937.
During the analysis of the property status and income of the specified persons, it was found that the mentioned assets could not have been purchased at the expense of legal income by either the spouses of the customs officers, the deputy chairman of the district council, or their close relatives. After the start of monitoring the lifestyle of the specified subjects, the assets were urgently sold. In view of the above, the prosecutor filed a lawsuit with the court to recover from the officials over UAH 8.5 million in state revenue - the value of the assets and the proceeds from their sale
As established by the media, the High Anti-Corruption Court imposed an arrest as security for the claim on the following property: an apartment with an area of 135.1 sq. m and a residential building with an area of 284.6 sq. m belonging to the customs officers' spouses, as well as an apartment with an area of 76.6 sq. m belonging to their son.
Recall, we previously wrote that the SAPO demands to confiscate the assets of the National Police inspector.
