Appeal to Review Verdict for MP Odarchenko
The Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court will consider an appeal against the verdict sentencing People's Deputy Andriy Odarchenko to 8 years in prison for providing an illegal benefit to the former head of the State Reconstruction Agency, Mustafa Nayem.
Andriy Odarchenko is a suspect in the EBK database.
As is known, the anti-corruption court found Odarchenko guilty of providing illegal benefits. He was sentenced to 8 years in prison with confiscation of all property owned by him and deprivation of the right to hold a number of positions for a period of 3 years.
Open appeal proceedings on appeals of the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office and the defense lawyers of the accused (Odarchenko - ed.) against the verdict of the High Anti-Corruption Court dated 14.11.2024. As is known, the SAPO accuses People's Deputy Odarchenko of attempting to bribe the former head of the State Agency for Reconstruction, Mustafa Nayem. According to the prosecution, the People's Deputy offered Nayem an illegal benefit for ensuring that the Interdepartmental Working Group adopts a decision on the allocation of funds from the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression for the repair of buildings at the university, where the People's Deputy continues to hold the position of rector (the validity of whose contract has been suspended). The proposed amount of illegal benefit was to be 8% of the amount of funding.
As a reminder, the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office stated that, according to operational information, People's Deputy Andriy Odarchenko fled abroad. Because of this, he was put on the national and international wanted list .
Later it turned out that the People's Deputy illegally crossed the border near the settlement of Krasnoilsk, Chernivtsi region and asked for asylum in Romania.
