Obukhiv City Council Deputy Suspected of Bribery

A deputy of the Obukhiv City Council of the Kyiv region was suspected of receiving a $5,000 bribe for resolving a land issue.
This was reported by the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
The investigation established that the 39-year-old deputy received the money for a promise to influence the decision of the Obukhiv City Council regarding the approval of the passport of the binding and the conclusion of an easement agreement for a land plot in Obukhiv.
Law enforcement officers searched the suspect's car. They reportedly seized his mobile phone, cash, document forms, bank cards, and other physical evidence.
The deputy was detained and charged with abuse of influence under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code. The sanction of the article provides for up to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention.
