VAKS continued the night house arrest of the acting director of the Mariupol port

The higher anti-corruption court extended until October 27 the night house arrest of the acting director of the state enterprise "Mariupol Sea Trade Port" Ihor Barskyi, who is suspected of embezzling UAH 13.92 million.

Earlier, the Appeals Chamber eased Barskyi's preventive measure, imposing a number of obligations: to arrive at the summons of the investigation, not to leave the place of residence without permission, to notify of a change of place of residence or work, not to communicate with witnesses, as well as to surrender foreign passports.

The SAP prosecutor appealed to the court to extend Barskyi's house arrest and duties for another two months.

"The request of the prosecutor is to be granted: to extend house arrest with a ban on leaving the home from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. until October 27, 2024, inclusive, as well as to extend the duty of the suspect for the same period," the court's decision reads.

It will be recalled that Ihor Barskyi is a member of the base of "EBK".

According to the investigation, on February 21, 2022, Ihor Barsky concluded a contract with a private construction company on the completion of construction on the territory of the port. Due to the invasion of the Russian Federation, the work was not carried out, but the director of the port, being in the territory controlled by Ukraine, agreed to transfer UAH 11.6 million to the company's accounts for the unfinished work.

During the search, cash and documents were seized from Barsky. He was informed of the suspicion of embezzlement of property due to abuse of official position during martial law (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
