Former Air Force Logistics Chief Gets New Charges

The former commander of logistics of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was declared suspicious of illegal activities. The State Bureau of Investigation is not naming the suspect. At the same time, the position of commander of logistics of the Air Force Command was previously held by Colonel Andriy Ukrainets.
In February, he was already suspected of embezzling budget funds allocated for the construction of strategic defense facilities for Ukrainian aviation.
According to the investigation, since 2019, the official, together with his relatives, has acquired assets worth over UAH 20 million, the origin of which is not confirmed by legal income. enrichment of almost UAH 21 million. The State Bureau of Investigation reported this on August 6. Among the discovered property: four land plots in the Zhytomyr region worth almost UAH 475 thousand; four cars with a total value of over UAH 6.8 million; apartments in Bukovel worth over UAH 1.9 million; three apartments in Kyiv with a total value of almost UAH 5.3 million; two apartments in Vinnytsia worth UAH 1.8 million; an apartment in Zhytomyr worth almost UAH 439 thousand; three residential buildings near Zhytomyr with a total value of over UAH 2.4 million; five non-residential premises in Zhytomyr and the suburbs with a total value of over UAH 544 thousand; garage near Zhytomyr worth 440 thousand UAH.
According to the investigation, although the property was registered in the name of the suspect's parents, son, cohabitant, and best man, it was actually used and managed by the official himself.
He is charged with illegal enrichment (Article 368-5 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of the article provides for five to ten years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years.
Law enforcement officers also filed a petition with the court to choose a preventive measure in the form of detention with the alternative of paying bail in the amount of 21 million 3 thousand UAH.
Currently, SBI investigators are establishing the sources of origin of the funds used to purchase the property and checking the suspect's other assets.

Recall that the commander of the Air Force logistics Andriy Ukrainets and the head of the SBU department in the Zhytomyr region Volodymyr Kompanichenko were detained while receiving $320,000 in bribes in February 2026. Law enforcement officers found out that the military had established a scheme to embezzle state money while arranging shelters for Defense Forces aircraft.
