Ex-Head of Lviv State Consumer Service Takes New Role
The former head of the Main Department of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection of Lviv Region, Yevhen Barkyt, who was detained in August last year on suspicion of bribery, currently works as the head of the Lviv District Department of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection.
The fact that Yevhen Barkyt is the head of the Lviv District Department of the State Service for the Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare is stated on the institution's website.
Yevhen Barkyt himself told Zaxid.net that he transferred to the new position, which he has held for about a month, "of his own free will."

Yevhen Barkyt was the head of the Main Department of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection of Lviv Region for over seven years. In August 2023, Yevhen Barkyt and his subordinate, the head of the agricultural machinery registration department, Teodoziy Denisyak, were detained on suspicion of bribery.
According to the investigation, the aforementioned officials of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection offered bribes to a police officer for not bringing the service employees to justice. In total, the fact of providing an illegal benefit in the total amount of $4,000 was documented.
As of today, criminal proceedings against Yevhen Barkyt and Teodoziy Denisyak for giving bribes to an official (Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) are pending in court, with the next hearing scheduled for January 22, 2025.
It was previously reported that the case of the former head of the Accounting Chamber, Patska, will be reviewed.
