Case of Former Audit Chamber Head Patskan to Be Reviewed
The Supreme Court has overturned the acquittal of the former head of the Accounting Chamber, Valeriy Patska, due to the absence of elements of a crime and has ordered a retrial on appeal in the case of illegal receipt of compensation for renting housing in Kyiv, the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office reports.
As is known, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court found Patskana guilty of abuse of office (Part 1 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He was sentenced to two years of restriction of liberty with a fine of UAH 10,200 and a ban on holding certain positions for three years. At the same time, due to the expiration of the statute of limitations, the accused was released from liability.
The SAPO prosecutor and the defense filed appeals against this verdict. The Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice upheld the defense and overturned the verdict, acquitting Patska. His case was closed due to the lack of elements of the crime. The SAPO prosecutor filed an appeal against the decision in the case.
On December 19, 2024, the Cassation Criminal Court of the Supreme Court partially satisfied the cassation appeal of the SAPO prosecutor and referred the case against the former People's Deputy of Ukraine (VIII convocation) for new consideration to the Appellate Chamber of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court. The Supreme Court's ruling is final and cannot be appealed.
