Andriy Kostin announced his resignation from the post of Prosecutor General of Ukraine. He announced this against the backdrop of a scandal involving fake disabilities in regional prosecutor's offices.

Today, the President of Ukraine held a meeting of the National Security Council regarding the situation with false disabilities of state officials. Currently, checks and investigations of criminal proceedings are ongoing at all levels of the state. Many shameful facts of abuses in the system of prosecutor's offices have been established

- Kostin said.

The investigation includes, in particular, cases of receiving fictitious disabilities by 49 prosecutors of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor's Office.

I am grateful to the President and the Verkhovna Rada for their trust. But under these circumstances, I consider it correct to resign from the position of Prosecutor General

- Kostin added.

It is not yet known who will replace him in the position. Kostin, a 51-year-old lawyer, has held the position of Prosecutor General since July 2022 and has been a member of the NSDC since August of the same year.

It will be recalled that the Ministry of Health canceled 74 decisions on the establishment of disability for conscripts in Khmelnytskyi region after checks initiated due to the scandal involving the corruption scheme of the head of the regional MSEC Tetyana Krupa.

Tetiana Krupa, head of the Khmelnytskyi MSEC, was exposed in a corruption scheme , helping 50 prosecutors and their relatives to issue disability certificates. 6 million dollars in cash were found in her apartment.

Tetyana Krupa is also a figurehead of the EBK base.
