Kharkiv Medical Official Suspected of Concealing UAH 3.2m in Assets

The head of one of the departments of the Voloshin Institute of Neurology, Psychiatry and Narcology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, who, according to the investigation, entered inaccurate information into his income declaration for 2024, was reported under suspicion. Investigators believe that he hid property and cash assets worth 3.2 million hryvnias.
This was reported on October 1 by the press service of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office and the regional police.
According to law enforcement officials, a 54-year-old man, who is also a member of the expert team for assessing the daily functioning of a person, did not indicate in his declaration a non-residential premises with an area of almost 220 sq. meters and a value of over 650,000 hryvnias, which belongs to his wife.
He also failed to disclose UAH 870,000 of his wife's income from the sale of a BMW X7. The hidden assets also included corporate rights of an official in a private company worth over UAH 70,000.
Among other things, he did not reflect expenses in the amount of more than 1 million hryvnias transferred to the energy supply organization. Also, according to law enforcement officers, the official understated the value of his Lexus LX570 car by almost 600,000 hryvnias in his declaration.
The official indicated that the cost of his 2017 car is 3.15 million hryvnias, while, according to the investigation, the actual cost of the vehicle is 3.746 million hryvnias.
As a result, the total amount of undeclared assets amounted to more than 3.2 million hryvnias. The head of the medical department was informed of suspicion of declaring false information. The sanction of the article provides for a fine, community service, or up to two years of restriction of liberty. Also, if proven guilty in court, he may be deprived of the right to hold certain positions for a period of up to three years.
