Zhytomyr Hospital Head to Stand Trial over $4,000 Bribe
In Zhytomyr region, the chief physician of one of the district hospitals will be tried on charges of bribery. According to the investigation, the hospital's general director promised a soldier fictitious medical documents for $4,000 to be discharged from military service. The official faces up to 6 years in prison.

According to her information, investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Zhytomyr region have completed a pre-trial investigation. During the investigation, they found out that in February 2026, one of the servicemen began examination and treatment.
A few months later, the head of the institution offered the man assistance in obtaining the necessary medical documents and organizing inpatient treatment. In the future, these documents could be used to establish the man's disability group and determine his suitability for military service. The head doctor wanted to receive 4 thousand dollars for this service.
The military man agreed to the proposed conditions so that the refusal would not create obstacles for him in further medical examinations. But at the same time, he turned to law enforcement, the press officer said. The doctor was detained on June 11 in his office after he received the first part of the amount - $2,000.
The pre-trial investigation has been completed and the indictment has been submitted to the court, the policewoman said. The hospital manager, who is a deputy of the district council, is charged with requesting a significant amount of illegal benefit and obtaining illegal benefit by using her official position - Part 2 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanction of the article provides for 3 to 6 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to 3 years.
