Cherkasy TCP Officer Suspected of Demanding Bribe
A serviceman from one of the departments of the district TCP and the Cherkasy region's SS was reported under suspicion. According to the prosecutor's office, he demanded five thousand dollars for removal from the wanted list and a fictitious MMC conclusion.
The suspect was taken into custody, the press service of the Special Prosecutor's Office for Defense of the Central District reported on Facebook.
According to the investigation, in July 2026, the suspect demanded five US dollars from the conscript for removing him from the wanted list in the "Oberig" system. Also, as the press service reported, the suspect promised to influence the decision of the military medical commission employees regarding the recognition of the conscript as fit for service in military support units, the Central Military District and the Joint Forces, training centers and medical units.
At the same time, he emphasized that in case of refusal to transfer the funds, the conscript would be mobilized and sent to the area of active hostilities. Later, the suspect reported that in order to be removed from the wanted list, it is first necessary to pay a fine for violating the rules of military registration, and also reduced the amount of his "services" to three thousand US dollars.
After that, in September 2026, the serviceman received a bribe of three thousand US dollars, the press service noted. Currently, the suspect has been remanded in custody with the possibility of posting bail and has been informed of the suspicion:
A military serviceman of one of the departments of the RTCP and the Cherkasy Region Police Department was reported under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - obtaining an unlawful benefit for himself for influencing a decision-making process by a person authorized to perform state functions, combined with the extortion of such a benefit
If the suspect is proven guilty in court, he faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
