Kyiv Region Officials Exposed in $5,000 Draft Scheme

In the Kyiv region, law enforcement officers handed over suspicions to officials who, according to the investigation, assisted persons of draft age in preparing medical documentation and organizing fictitious passage through the military medical commission (MMC).
This was reported to the Kyiv region police on August 17.
For five thousand US dollars, men of draft age were offered to write in their medical records a conclusion from the Military Medical Council, which would allow them to serve only in the rear, due to their health condition. In particular, in support units, training centers, the Central Military District and the Joint Forces Command, or other units.
Law enforcement officers conducted a series of searches at the places of service, residence, and vehicles of the suspects, during which they discovered and seized physical evidence, including money, mobile phones, and copies of medical and military registration documents.
According to the police, the suspects were caught red-handed while they were receiving $2,000, part of a bribe. The case is being investigated under Part 3 of Article 368 and Part 5 of Article 27 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The suspects face up to 10 years in prison.
We previously reported that the case of the former chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was referred to court.
