Prosecutor in Lviv region caught taking $5,000 bribe

In the Lviv region, one of the prosecutors was caught taking a bribe, demanding $5,000 for not bringing a case to criminal responsibility.

This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office.

After receiving the bribe, the prosecutor promised to help close the case.

Under the procedural guidance of prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office in cooperation with the head of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a prosecutor from one of the district prosecutor's offices in the city of Lviv was detained, who was caught extorting and receiving illegal benefits (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the prosecutor, using his official position, demanded 5 thousand US dollars from the Lviv woman for resolving the issue of not holding her accountable and closing the proceedings on the fact of fraud in the amount of 400 thousand UAH.

The prosecutor is currently detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The issue of notifying him of suspicion and choosing a preventive measure is being resolved.
