HACC delivers verdict to ex-Odesa regional council deputy and ex-prosecutor

On April 2, 2025, the High Anti-Corruption Court issued a verdict in the case of obtaining illegal benefits in a particularly large amount.
Former deputy head of the Izmail local prosecutor's office in Odessa region Ivan Marakhovsky and former deputy of the Odessa regional council Ivan Boychenko were held accountable. They were found guilty of receiving 40 thousand US dollars in illegal benefits from the head of a business enterprise for not obstructing his commercial activities.
Ivan Boychenko and Ivan Marakhovsky are suspects in the EBK base.
The court sentenced Ivan Boychenko to 10 years in prison with confiscation of all his property, as well as a ban on holding positions in state and local government bodies (except elected ones) for 3 years. In addition, his bail was increased by 5 million hryvnias and additional procedural obligations were imposed.
Ivan Marakhovskyi received 8 years in prison with confiscation of property and a 3-year ban on holding positions in the justice system - judge, lawyer, or prosecutor. He was also stripped of his class rank of advisor to justice.
The verdict can be appealed to the Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice within 30 days.
