National Guard colonel detained for trying to buy disability

Law enforcement officers have detained a colonel of the National Guard of Ukraine, former head of the Central Base of Production and Technological Equipment. According to the investigation, he tried to buy a fictitious disability in order to be released from military service and receive state benefits.
This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office. According to the case materials, the serviceman wanted to be removed from military registration. To do this, he planned to obtain a Group II disability certificate in exchange for a bribe.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, he approached a member of an expert team at one of Kyiv's medical institutions and offered a "reward" for issuing a fake certificate. He refused. The colonel continued to look for an opportunity to buy disability. And in the end, he agreed - for 6 thousand US dollars, but was caught red-handed while transferring the money.
On March 24, 2026, he transferred part of the agreed amount — 3 thousand US dollars, after which he was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. During urgent searches, funds and other evidence were seized.
And on March 25, the day after his detention, the National Guard colonel was informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - providing an unlawful benefit to an official.
The court chose for him a preventive measure in the form of detention with the alternative of bail of almost 1 million UAH. The defense's request to release the suspect on bail was denied.
We will remind, in Odessa, a TCP official is suspected of taking a bribe of 300 thousand UAH.
