Poltava utility director held for illegal lease and bribe image

In Poltava region, investigators detained the director of a municipal enterprise in one of the local communities, who was illegally renting out office space and extorting money from the entrepreneur. He was informed of the suspicion and taken into preventive custody.

This is stated on the website of the Poltava region police.

According to the investigation, the director demanded a monthly rent from the entrepreneur for the premises owned by the municipal enterprise. He did this without holding an auction and concluding a lease agreement. In January and February of this year, the entrepreneur transferred 5 thousand hryvnias to the suspect's bank card. And in May, during a personal meeting, the entrepreneur handed him 15 thousand. Law enforcement officers detained the official while transferring the money.

The director of the utility company was informed of the suspicion. The court chose a preventive measure - detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of over 60 thousand hryvnias.

The police have opened criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 368 "Acceptance of an offer and receipt by an official of an unlawful benefit for himself for committing by such an official in the interests of the person providing the unlawful benefit actions using the official position granted to him, combined with the extortion of unlawful benefit" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article is imprisonment for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
